Ethereum Assists Marginalized Scholars to Attend Devconnect 2023
- Ethereum announced the launch of a financial assistance program, the Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program.
- The program is intended to support geographically and demographically marginalized individuals from the community.
- The eligible candidates would be financially assisted by the platform to attend this year’s Devconnect in Istanbul.
Ethereum, the leading blockchain-based software platform, recently announced the launch of the Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program, a financial assistance program intended to provide financial aid to marginalized individuals from the community to attend 2023’s Devconnect.
Devconnect, a one-week-long gathering of the Ethereum community focusing on independent events including workshops and open discussions, was introduced last year. Spanning over eight days, the first-ever Devconnect was organized in Amsterdam, where the “members of the Ethereum community hosted events, intensive workshops, and enlightening talks”.
On June 26, the blockchain released a blog post, instituting Ethereum’s financial assistance program, to support individuals to participate in this year’s Devconnect in Istanbul, which is scheduled for November 2023. Ethereum Foundation has invited applications from “talented and values-aligned individuals from communities currently geographically and demographically underrepresented in Ethereum”.
A Chinese crypto reporter Colin Wu, took to Twitter to solicit the attention of his followers to Ethereum Blockchain’s new move:
The blog post highlighted the significance of the program while stating that the distinct perspectives and notions of various scholars from diverse geographic and demographic conditions would help shape Ethereum’s future. Thus, the blockchain has introduced the program to support the “underrepresented” scholars with “financial support for transportation, accommodation, per diem, and visa application”.
Along with a detailed sketch of eligibility and selection criteria, the blog post holds an attached application form, which allows the members to apply or nominate. Individuals belonging to minority communities or countries that lack representation in Ethereum would be eligible to apply. In addition, the applicants should be well-versed in English and should be available from November 13 to 19.
In related news, Ethereum Blockchain is set for a permanent protocol upgrade that is expected to change the network forever. Substantial developments in the blockchain are demonstrative of the further expansion of the crypto industry in general and Ethereum in particular, amid the stringent regulatory scrutiny of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
