Justin Sun reveals Poloniex issues prevent proof of reserves

Justin Sun has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to explain that “all exchanges in the industry have already implemented proof of reserves (PoR).” He followed up this pronouncement by further emphasizing that “there is only one explanation for why” exchanges have yet to do it — “they are unable to meet the requirements.” This reveal was somewhat surprising as Poloniex, a cryptocurrency exchange owned by Sun, has not implemented PoR, and as such we are forced to conclude that Poloniex is also “unable to meet the requirements.” Poloniex has a page on its website that claims to be a “Proof of Reserves,” but this page only shows how much Tron is on Poloniex, neglecting every single other asset.  Poloniex proof-of-reserves and WBTC backing missing These issues become especially interesting in light of the fact that Sun has recently focused so many of his criticisms on the newly launched cbBTC, Coinbase’s wrapped-Bitc...

The sharp rebound in Bitcoin and select altcoins suggests that bulls remain in charge and continue to buy at lower levels. Traders hate uncertainty; hence, the settlement between Binance, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao and the United States Department of Justice is likely to be viewed as a positive for the cryptocurrency space. Analysts largely remained positive on the deal, but a few sounded cautious due to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s pending lawsuit against Binance. Bitcoin (BTC) and several major altcoins fell sharply on Nov. 21 following the Binance news but are finding support at lower levels. This suggests that traders stepped in after the initial knee-jerk reaction, and are buying at lower levels. After the initial bounce, the bulls are likely to head into stiff opposition from the bears. Daily cryptocurrency market performance. Uniswap scam alert: Fraudsters impersonate executives and create fake website

Image
Uniswap and its foundation have no association with the scam as efforts are being made to combat it. Hayden Adams, the creator of the Uniswap protocol, recently expressed his surprise on Twitter regarding a scam where individuals created a fake Uniswap website . In a tweet, Adams showed his astonishment at the elaborate nature of the scam, emphasizing that it required a significant amount of effort. He further disclosed that the scammers had gone to the extent of incorporating Chinese community content into their scheme and even included links directing users to the legitimate Uniswap app on their deceptive website . To add an extra layer of credibility to their scheme, the scammers went to great lengths by organizing an hour-long Zoom recording that showcased individuals pretending to be high-ranking executives from Uniswap. This orchestrated video presentation aimed to deceive viewers into believing the authenticity of the scam. Hayden Adams, upon viewing the video, expressed his b...

Strong inflation data has pulled Bitcoin and select altcoins below their immediate support levels, signaling a few days of corrective action. Bitcoin (BTC) is struggling to stay above $23,000 as the weekend approaches. The selling pressure increased after the personal consumption expenditures excluding food and energy rose 0.6% in January and 4.7% over the year, above market expectations of an increase of 0.5% and 4.4% respectively.  This could trigger fears that the United States Federal Reserve may have to continue its rate hikes to bring inflation under control. Expectations of a rate hike could strengthen the U.S. dollar index further, which is already near a seven-week high, and that may put pressure on the cryptocurrency markets in the near term. How crypto tokens (not Bitcoin) will outperform stocks in 2023, Arca’s CIO explains

Some crypto tokens will perform better than stocks in 2023 as they become less sensitive to macroeconomic factors, according to CIO at Arca Jeff Dorman. Digital assets will largely decouple from traditional equity Markets in 2023, says Chief Investment Officer at Arca, Jeff Dorman. Discussing his outlook for 2023 in a recent interview with Cointelegraph, Dorman argues that as the global economy enters a recession this year, equities will be negatively affected while some crypto tokens will perform well: the value of the latter, he explained, is determined not only by macroeconomic factors but also by their utility within the respective ecosystems, which would remain unaltered in a recession. “You're going to see a lot of stocks get punished under the weight of restructurings and under the weight of lower revenues and lower cash flows. And you're actually going to see a lot of tokens do really well”, Dorman explained.  Crypto's decoupling process from equities may not ...
